Size

The texture gives this one away — a sandy, slightly porous matte finish that reads like the stucco walls of a Provençal kitchen. The shape is low-shouldered, almost pear-like, closer to the vessels you see at a Mediterranean estate sale than to anything made for a modern store.

It belongs in a room with warm wood and natural light. On a kitchen windowsill with a sprig of thyme from the pot outside. On an oak table at lunch. In a bedroom beside linen and a stack of secondhand books. Rooms that already feel a little weathered.

Good to know

Which size should I choose?
Small (16 cm) suits a bedside or kitchen sill. Medium (23 cm) is the all-rounder — shelf, console, dining table. Large (32 cm) is a floor-adjacent or empty-mantel piece. Buy up a size if in doubt; textured vases carry weight better large.

Is the surface actually porous?
The finish is porous-looking but sealed — the inside and base are glazed watertight. The sandy outside is a surface treatment; it doesn't absorb water or stain easily.

Will it look wrong in a modern room?
No — textured warmth is one of the best things to add to a modern interior. If everything else in the room is smooth and precise, this vase provides the needed friction.

Materials & Care

A little care goes a long way. Follow these simple guidelines to keep your BYHIMSELF pieces looking their best:

  • Ceramic & porcelain — wipe with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
  • Glass & crystal — clean with a microfiber cloth; for stubborn marks, use mild soapy water and dry immediately.
  • Resin & stone — dust regularly and keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to preserve colour.
  • Wood & bamboo — wipe dry only, never soak. A light coat of food-safe oil now and then keeps the finish rich.
  • LED & electronics — unplug before cleaning and keep away from water. Use only the supplied adapter.

Sun-washed is the right word for it — the character here is all warmth and slight fade, the look of a piece that has spent time in bright southern light. Hand-finished, so the silhouette carries small irregularities that keep it from feeling manufactured. One stem or a full armful; it takes both without changing character.
